Towing with a fj cruiser
I love my FJ, and have been towing and building trailers for 40 years on the building and 50 on the towing side. The FJ is not designed nor prepared to tow that much weight period. I could be wrong on the capacity but I think it is rated for 4700 pounds, you are 400 pounds over without a single thing in the trailer as I read it.3811 posts · Joined 2007. #6 · Jul 15, 2007. With that bigger boat, make sure that your trailer has brakes. Most trailers that can handle a boat that big will have surge brakes to help you stom. If you are going to be towing quite a bit you may also want to look into a transmission cooler or at least a synthetic tranny fluid.
