I've been putting off changing my rear main seal as it looks like it's gonna be a pain, and then I heard that pouring a few ounces of brake fluid into your oil will swell the seals and stop them from leaking without hurting anything in the engine.Posts: 509. brake line leak. I had a line rust out and it started leaking on our 09 hatch, the line is mostly coated except the last bit where the tube nut is. Why did they do that? I'm pretty sure I put a little grease on that section a year or two ago, I guess I was too late. This picture is similar to what Toyota does, not coating all the way.Brake pressures on an old vehicle runs 900-1200 psi. So everything has to be perfect, so where ever it is leaking, you need to take that connection apart, wipe it with a lint free rag, and put it back together and tighten it up with a tubing wrench, and recheck it.
