2018 silverado oil pressure gauge fluctuations

Recently I changed the oil pressure sensor at the back of the block by the camshaft sensor. Before I was getting 40 -70 psi and now I am getting 35-55 ...Since you have the sender out seems like an option would be to determine the thread size. From there you can search to see the availability of an adapter. Another option is to get a sandwich adapter that goes under the oil filter. Those adapters generally have 1/8-27 ports. Try searching using "oil filter sandwich adapter" as the search terms.BRB46 said: The gauge goes to zero with key in off position, otherwise it's at 80. So with power on, it reads max. This could be the stepper motor, with only one "step", max; or, the sending unit produces a voltage change as the pressure changes, maybe the sending unit is only sending max voltage.

Here's the problem: when the truck is on, the oil pressure gauge is stuck all the way to the right at 80 PSI. It goes back to the off position when the truck is off, but when it's on, it's at 80 PSI. He turned it off and let it sit for a few minutes and then tried it again, but the same thing happened...it happened again when he drove it back ...Do the following: Step 1 - Turn your ignition switch to the off position, wait for about 10 seconds. I thought it was the sending unit. i replaced the sending unit, with what turned out to be a bad unit. the gauge still didn't work and I got a DIC warning saying no pressure. Put a 3rd sending unit in and the gauge is still messed up but the DIC warning is gone.

Before doing them I have noticed when turning the ignition key to run before starting the engine the oil pressure gauge would move up to 20. then when running when cold oil pressure would be 60 psi on gauge.
