I followed ylab's advice and pulled the fuse under the hood for the tcm. i now have Service 4wd on the dash and the selector lights up when keyed on but it is still not working.Inspect all the wiring harnesses to the 4WD switch on the transfer case and the front axle actuator. If the wiring is chafed and grounding the light blue wire that runs from the TC to the front axle, the front axle actuator will engage and turn on the 4WD light.
